Jump straight to any code
Every file in the panel has a ↕ button. Click it and the chat scrolls to that exact code block and flashes it, so you never hunt through a long answer. ↓ Jump to Bottom brings you back to the latest answer.
A short illustrated guide to the free extension for ChatGPT and Gemini. Pictures move, so you can see how each thing works.
Drag the small Harvester panel to any edge of the screen. It slides in as a slim drawer, so it never covers the chat.
On the closed drawer a line of blocks fills while the AI writes, and it shows the file in progress. When the code is finished everything lights up, and Show opens the page at once.
Click Show and the page opens in a tab of its own, running for real. When the AI finishes a new answer, the page refreshes by itself.
Pick an accent colour in a light, normal or dark shade, or any colour you like. In Settings you can also tune the closed drawer (the blocks and the Show button) and see the result live.
One click and your work leaves Harvester in the shape that suits what you do next. Nothing goes to a server: the file is built on this computer.
Every selected file, in its own folder, in a single download. Unzip it and the project works exactly as the AI built it.
Best formoving a finished project to your computer or to a web host
Styles and scripts merged into one .html file. Open it with a double-click or send it by e-mail: nothing else is needed.
Best forshowing the page to someone quickly
Project with several folders? Zip it with the folders kept: if the AI writes a path above the code (css/style.css), the folder is recognised by itself, and in the Workspace you can change any file’s Folder by hand. The ZIP is built with exactly that structure.
The files plus a chat.md that explains how they were made, all in one ZIP. The reasons behind the code travel with it.
Best forhanding a project over, or picking it up again months later
The conversation as clean Markdown: headings, lists and code blocks stay tidy.
Best fornotes in Obsidian, Notion or GitHub
A Markdown file with a short instruction on top. Paste it into a new chat and another AI carries on with the full context.
Best forswitching between ChatGPT and Gemini, or when a chat gets too long
Opens the print dialog so you can save the conversation as a PDF anyone can read.
Best fordocuments, reports and people who do not use code
The whole text lands on your clipboard in one click, ready to paste.
Best fora quick message, e-mail or support ticket
Include Latest answer / Whole conversation · Very long conversations can exceed what the AI is able to read. For long chats, choose "Latest answer".
Every file in the panel has a ↕ button. Click it and the chat scrolls to that exact code block and flashes it, so you never hunt through a long answer. ↓ Jump to Bottom brings you back to the latest answer.
Tick the files you want (all are ticked at the start) and press the big button. Its label tells you what will happen, for example Download selected (2/3) as ZIP. Prefer separate files? Switch to 1-by-1.
Click a file's button, for example index.html, and just that code goes to your clipboard, ready to paste. It says Copied! for a moment and stays marked so you remember what you already took. Click again to unmark.
Harvester follows the chat by itself. If you switched conversation or the list looks out of date, press ↻ and it reads the latest code again.
The ⓘ button gives you a short instruction. Paste it into the chat, or once into the Custom Instructions of Gemini or ChatGPT. From then on the AI writes each file name above its code, and Harvester names and sorts your files perfectly.
In ⚙ pick Save downloads to: Ask me every time (you choose a place each time), AI_Code_Harvester folder, or Downloads (no folder). The same choice is in the Workspace Settings.
Heads up: downloads now ask where to save by default. You can change this in the panel's ⚙ settings or in the Workspace Settings.
