The tab chaos problem
Every open tab in Chrome is its own process. Each one consumes memory — even when you're not actively using it. Open 20 tabs and Chrome can easily eat 2–4 GB of RAM, leaving nothing for the rest of your system.
But the real problem isn't just memory. It's the mental clutter. Dozens of tabs spread across multiple windows, no clear structure, no way to find what you need. You end up either drowning in tabs or losing important links entirely.
Tab Rocket solves both problems at once — it's a tab organizer, a RAM optimizer, and a workspace manager in a single lightweight extension.
Creating your first group
After installing Tab Rocket, click the extension icon to open the interface. You'll see your library of groups on the left and your group cards in the main area.
Click "New Group"
In the left sidebar, hit the + New Group button and give it a name — "Work", "Research", "Shopping", whatever fits.
Add links to the group
Use + Add Link on the card, or save your currently open tabs directly into the group. All tabs are stored safely.
Close the tabs and free up RAM
Once saved, close those tabs. Chrome's memory usage drops immediately — your computer speeds up right away.
Launch All with one click
Click Launch All on any group card to reopen every tab at once. Your entire session is back in seconds.
Saving from any page — the floating button
One of the most powerful features of Tab Rocket is the floating rocket button. It sits in a corner of every website you visit (you can configure the position and size — S, M, or L).
When you're on a page you want to save, just click the rocket. A small popup appears showing the page URL and a list of your groups. Pick a group (or create a new one), hit Save to Tab Rocket, and you're done — without ever leaving the page.
This is the fastest way to capture links as you browse. No copy-paste, no switching windows. One click, saved.
Drag & drop to reorganize
Tab Rocket's interface is fully drag-and-drop. You can:
- Drag group cards to reorder them in your library
- Drag individual links up or down within a card
- Drag links from one card to another to move them between groups
Everything snaps into place instantly. Keeping your workspace organized takes seconds, not minutes.
Search and custom card covers
Search
As your library grows, finding things fast becomes important. The search bar at the top of Tab Rocket lets you search across all groups and saved links in real time — just start typing and results appear instantly.
Custom card covers
You can set a custom background image for each group card, turning your library into a visual dashboard. A "Holidays" group gets a beach photo, a "Work" group gets something minimal — it makes navigation much faster at a glance.
Combined with Favorites (star any group to pin it to the top of your library), your most-used workspaces are always front and centre.
Cloud sync & backup
Tab Rocket offers two ways to make sure you never lose your data:
- Cloud Sync — log in with your email and your groups, links, and settings automatically sync across all your devices. Switch computers and everything is waiting for you.
- JSON Export — export your entire workspace to a backup file at any time. A 100% offline, reliable safety net that you control completely.
Use one or both — cloud sync for convenience, JSON backup for peace of mind.
Power features: Stealth Mode, Favorites & more
Tab Rocket includes several features worth knowing about:
- Stealth Mode (Ctrl+Y) — instantly hides all your groups from view. Useful when sharing your screen or working in a public space.
- Favorites — star your most-used groups to keep them at the top of your library.
- Import Bookmarks — bring in your existing Chrome bookmarks directly into Tab Rocket groups.
- Lock Groups — lock any group to prevent accidental edits or deletions.
- Group Settings — customize the layout: number of columns (1–4), font size, font family (6 options), and links per card.
- Light & Dark Mode — switch between themes from the sidebar.
